چکیده

An image analysis algorithm is described that utilizes a Graphics Processor Unit (GPU) to detect in real-time the most shallow subsurface tissue layer present in an OCT image obtained by a prototype SDOCT corneal imaging system. The system has a scanning depth range of 6mm and can acquire 15 volumes per second at the cost of lower resolution and signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) than diagnostic OCT scanners. To the best of our knowledge, we are the first to experiment with non-median percentile filtering for simultaneous noise reduction and feature enhancement in OCT images, and we believe we are the first to implement any form of non-median percentile filtering on a GPU. The algorithm was applied to five different test images. On an average, it took ~0.5 milliseconds to preprocess an image with a 20-percentile filter, and ~1.7 milliseconds for our second-stage algorithm to detect the faintly imaged transparent surface.

Real-time intraoperative 4D full-range FD-OCT based on the dual graphics processing units architecture for microsurgery guidance

Real-time 4D full-range complex-conjugate-free Fourier-domain optical coherence tomography (FD-OCT) is implemented using a dual graphics processing units (dual-GPUs) architecture. One GPU is dedicated to the FD-OCT data processing while the second one is used for the volume rendering and display. GPU accelerated non-uniform fast Fourier transform (NUFFT) is also implemented to suppress the side...

Graphics processing unit accelerated intensity-based optical coherence tomography angiography using differential frames with real-time motion correction.

We demonstrate intensity-based optical coherence tomography (OCT) angiography using the squared difference of two sequential frames with bulk-tissue-motion (BTM) correction. This motion correction was performed by minimization of the sum of the pixel values using axial- and lateral-pixel-shifted structural OCT images. We extract the BTM-corrected image from a total of 25 calculated OCT angiogra...

Real-time display on Fourier domain optical coherence tomography system using a graphics processing unit.

Fourier domain optical coherence tomography (FD-OCT) requires resampling of spectrally resolved depth information from wavelength to wave number, and the subsequent application of the inverse Fourier transform. The display rates of OCT images are much slower than the image acquisition rates due to processing speed limitations on most computers. We demonstrate a real-time display of processed OC...

Graphics processing unit accelerated non-uniform fast Fourier transform for ultrahigh-speed, real-time Fourier-domain OCT

We implemented fast Gaussian gridding (FGG)-based non-uniform fast Fourier transform (NUFFT) on the graphics processing unit (GPU) architecture for ultrahigh-speed, real-time Fourier-domain optical coherence tomography (FD-OCT). The Vandermonde matrix-based non-uniform discrete Fourier transform (NUDFT) as well as the linear/cubic interpolation with fast Fourier transform (InFFT) methods are al...

We present a GPU accelerated multi-functional spectral domain optical coherence tomography system at 1300 nm. The system is capable of real-time processing and display of every intensity image, comprised of 512 pixels by 2048 A-lines acquired at 20 frames per second. The update rate for all four images with size of 512 pixels by 2048 A-lines simultaneously (intensity, phase retardation, flow an...
